Stop It!

Another conference weekend has come and gone. It seems to always pass too quickly. I love having two days to just sit and drink in the messages and bask in the light of the spirit. I am so grateful to be led by prophets and to have this time to be rejuvenated and remotivated to get my life in order. And also the reassurance that some things in my life are already in order. I never can pick just one favorite talk, because as I look through my notes I think, oh I loved that one. Then I turn the page, and think oh I loved that one too. I loved Elder Holland's and Pres. Uchtdorf's talks. What important counsel for all of us. Judging, envying, gossiping, holding grudges I think almost everyone struggles with at least one of those. STOP IT! Such simple advice but really it is true. We have already used this advice in our family a few times.

Life has been so hectic and crazy around here lately. Last week we spent a majority of our time at wrestling tournaments. Our son has been wrestling since 7th grade, but this year he has really improved, increasing his skill and changing his attitude. He was the JV wrestler for his weight and was 10-0 throughout the regular season. Then came time for the tournament with 8 other schools in our area. Only the top 4 would advance from this double elimination tournament. Being the JV wrestler the odds were against him, but he had set a goal to make district. Unfortunately he lost in the first round, but then battled back to win the next three matches and finished in 4th place. I was and am so proud of him. Believing in yourself and believing that you can do hard things, even things that no one thinks you can  is a powerful lesson to learn. Hopefully this lesson learned with carry over into all aspects of his life.
